Astronomers have discovered asteroid 2025 SC79, a skyscraper-sized space rock orbiting the sun in just 128 days. the second-fastest known.
Harvard scientist Avi Loeb has revealed that if comet 3I/ATLAS were an 'alien spaceship', it will be reaching Earth tomorrow (October 29).
Down here on Earth we don't usually notice, but the Sun is frequently ejecting huge masses of plasma into space. These are called coronal mass ejections (CMEs). They often occur together with sudden brightenings called flares,

Astronomers discover 2nd fastest asteroid in the solar system hiding in the sun's glare
A scientist spotted an asteroid hiding in the sun's glare that orbits the sun in just 128 days, making it the second fastest known asteroid in the solar system.
3I/ATLAS is a comet which was detected by the boffins over at NASA on 1 July, with researchers at the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) identifying the mysterious terrestrial rock. The comet - which is roughly the size of New York - will become the third interstellar space object to enter our solar system in recorded history.
Many scientists call Jupiter the architect of the solar system because its immense gravity influenced the orbits of other planets and carved up the gas and dust from which they all emerged. This celestial neighborhood is about 4.5 billion years old.
A new analysis estimates that the asteroid belt is steadily losing mass each year, and may not be as permanent a feature of the solar system as we thought.

Without Jupiter, Earth may have spiraled into the sun long ago
New research shows how Jupiter carved out rings and gaps that changed how and when planets and meteorites formed.
Webb just spotted a carbon-rich moon factory 625 light-years away, revealing how moons like ours may have first taken shape.
Jupiter was shaping the fate of our solar system long before Earth came into existence. A new study conducted by scientists at Houston-based Rice University has revealed that this giant planet created gaps in the early solar system that prevented the building blocks of Earth from being pulled into the Sun.
